Abstract
This article reviews the role of UNRWA in providing healthcare to Palestinian refugees from 1950 to 2007. Drawing on interviews with UNRWA health officials and testimonies from refugees in Jordan and Lebanon, it outlines the scope of primary and limited secondary care offered by the Agency, as well as the disparities in service quality across different fields of operation. Despite chronic underfunding and significant gaps—particularly in Lebanon—UNRWA remains a critical provider of essential health services. The article highlights the need for strengthened resources and improved infrastructure to ensure sustainable and equitable healthcare delivery.
